‘Kool Aid’ faces 21-45 years for June 2014 armed robbery

Lamarcus “Kool Aid” Bassett, 21, has been found guilty of a June 2014 armed robbery. He will be sentenced at 1:30 p.m., Feb. 19, in Courtroom D.
Armed robbery is a Class X felony punishable by a sentence of six to 30 years. Bassett is eligible for an additional 15 years because he used a firearm, making his sentence range 21 to 45 years, followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
In June 2014, police investigated an armed robbery to a citizen that occurred on the northwest side of Rockford. The victim was attending a cook-out when Bassett drove up, got out of the car and pulled out a gun. Bassett threatened the victim at gunpoint and demanded money.
