Veterans Memorial Hall, 211 N. Main St., downtown Rockford, will host judging in the Northern Illinois Regional History Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 17.
Students will present their work to judges from 9 a.m. to noon, Jan. 17, while history projects will be on display to the public from noon to 4 p.m.
This is the 16th year the Rockford Historical Society has judged entries to be considered for advancement to Northern Illinois Regional History Fair.
Students from Saint Peter’s School will present 48 projects at Veterans Memorial Hall. The goal of the Northern Illinois Regional History Fair is to provide young people with a high-quality, educational experience. Last year, nearly 500 students from 25 schools participated in the Northern Illinois Regional History Fair.
The History Fair plays a crucial role that encourages the study of history among youth and is one of this state’s unique educational events. The History Fair is an educational opportunity for students to share their research with each other and the community.
Each year, students in grades 6-12 from the northern region participate in the fair by writing research papers, designing websites, creating projects and performing original skits that deal with topics of Illinois history. Memorial Hall can be reached at (815) 969-1999.
