Rockford Public Schools students recognized as State Scholars
Online Staff Report
Eighty-four high school seniors in Rockford Public Schools have been named 2015-16 Illinois State Scholars for their outstanding academic achievement. In general, the distinction is awarded to the top 10 percent of graduates from approved high schools across the state.
Students honored with the Illinois State Scholar distinction perform in the top half of their high school class (measured at the end of the third semester before graduation), and/or score in the 95th percentile on the ACT, SAT or Prairie State Achievement Exam.
“This is a prestigious recognition from the state, and we’re proud of our students who have earned this distinction,” said Rockford Public Schools Deputy Superintendent Matt Vosberg. “It takes a lot of hard work and commitment from these students, their families, teachers and staff to achieve this recognition. We’re looking forward to celebrating these students’ success.”
The honor is typically noted at each high school’s commencement. A letter is also sent home to families to celebrate their child’s success. A complete list of students is included below.
