There is currently an urgent need for blood donations in our region. As the coordinator of an upcoming blood drive, I’ve learned that many of the good folks on the donor list have already responded to Rock River Valley Blood Center’s recent request for help and aren’t available to attend our blood drive. This leads me to think there are still a lot of people who may be eligible to donate, but just aren’t aware of the need. Perhaps it has been a long time since you have given blood, or maybe you have never done so. Whatever the case, I encourage you to consider taking a look at the RRVBC.org to learn more about their need and requirements for donating. Or call the RRVBC at (815) 965-8751.
There is no replacement for human blood. The only usable resource is individual blood donations given by healthy people. And you might be surprised to discover that diabetics can donate too.
Comfort Keepers is sponsoring the RRVBC Blood mobile on Thursday, Jan. 22, from noon to 12:30 p.m., making it convenient for those who work or live near our location, in the vicinity of State and Alpine in Rockford. Give me a call at (815) 229-9100 if you have questions or want to schedule an appointment. You can save up to three lives with one donation.
As they say, “giving feels amazing.”
