Online Staff Report
Rockford Health System (RHS) has announced Rose Rainer, R.N., with the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice, has been named as the 2014 Employee of the Year.
Rainer was selected from 12 candidates who earned Employee of the Month awards throughout the year.
Rainer is a certified hospice and palliative care nurse. She began in the Step Down Cardiac Care unit in 2009, and moved into VNA Hospice in 2012.
According to a press release from RHS: “A team player, Rainer is always willing to pick up extra workdays or on-call shifts, when needed. She’ll often pick up extra visits if she has finished her assignments early, and frequently adjusts her schedule to accommodate her patients’ needs.
“Co-workers describe Rainer as the epitome of nurse excellence and an incredible patient advocate. She has a feisty spirit, which they say helps her when she goes to bat for the best interest of her patients and their families. She remains professional at all times, and her experience, calm manner and critical thinking skills help ease difficult situations.”
