The Financial Aid office of Rock Valley College (RVC) will be hosting its annual event to help students and parents in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
FAFSA Completion Night will be Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Student Center Atrium on RVC’s main campus, 3301 N. Mulford Road.
RVC Financial Aid staff will be on hand to answer questions about financial aid and provide personalized, confidential assistance. Participants should come with the 2015-2016 FAFSA worksheet completed as much as possible. FAFSA worksheet forms may be obtained from the RVC Financial Aid Office, high school guidance counselor offices, area libraries, or online at FAFSA.ed.gov.
Attendees should plan to bring the following (if available):
• PIN number(s) — if you do not have a PIN, apply now at www.pin.ed.gov.
• 2014 tax information, if available (parents’ and student’s 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ Federal Tax applications and W2 forms). In addition, a representative from the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be available to answer tax questions. Note: Filing your taxes online will speed up your FAFSA.
• Student’s driver’s license and Social Security card.
• Records of untaxed income (welfare, Social Security, AFDC, ADC, veteran benefits, or child support received and/or paid during 2014).
• A calculator.
There is no cost for this service, but to assist in planning, RSVP by calling (815) 921-4150. High school students should visit their high school counselor or call Rock Valley College with any further questions.
