From U of I Extension
University of Illinois Extension has announced the 19th Annual Stateline Fruit and Vegetable Growers Conference will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, at Midway Village, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford.
Grant McCarty, local foods and small farms extension educator, explained: “Each season, large-scale fruit and vegetable growers need updates on production, diseases, and insects that they will be dealing with before the season starts. This conference addresses all of these topics, with information from University of Illinois Extension specialists and other speakers. Our two general topics of farm finances and cold storage/packinghouses will build upon the production updates. We’re looking forward to a great conference.”
Registration fee is $45 per person, $35 for additional employees of the same farm. The program will include two general sessions, choice of three breakouts, and lunch. Registration and more information about the program can be found at http://web.extension.illinois.edu/jsw or by calling (815) 986-4357.
