18-year-old shot dead on Log Cabin Avenue

At around 9:49 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 1, Rockford police responded to the 1700 block of Log Cabin Avenue in reference to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive 18-year-old male gunshot victim, Jaylin Shaw, in the street.

Rockford Fire Department paramedics transported Shaw to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at 5:33 a.m., Monday, Feb. 2.

Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored SUV leaving the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

    WHY are the young killing each other? WHAT is sooo horrible that they feel they have to shoot and kill? This is so disturbing, unsettling and unnecessary!!
