The Rockford Chapter of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE) has organized the 32nd Annual Regional MATHCOUNTS Program. The National MATHCOUNTS (www.MATHCOUNTS.org) program involves sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students, and was developed to inspire excellence, confidence and curiosity in U.S. middle school students through fun and challenging math problems.
The regional MATHCOUNTS Program involves students from schools within the Rockford Chapter boundaries — Boone, Winnebago, Stephenson and Jo Daviess counties.
This year’s Regional Competition will be Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Rock Valley College-Woodward Technology Center in Rockford. The top team, along with the top individual, will advance to the State Competition March 7 at The Sheraton Hotel in Lisle, Illinois. The four top individual finishers at the Illinois State Competition advance to the National Competition May 8 in Boston.
