Inca peoples of Peru to be focus of Feb. 10 event at Burpee

The Rockford Society of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) will host a multi-media presentation on the lifestyles of the Inca peoples of Peru at the Burpee Museum of Natural History at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Guest speaker Professor Kylie Quave of Beloit College will lead the presentation, “Working in the Inka: Royal Estates and Local Households in the Imperial Heartland of Cuzco, Peru.”

Quave holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from Southern Methodist University and has worked on excavations throughout Peru. She is a reviewer for the National Geographic Society’s Committee for Research and Exploration of the Andean Past and has contributed to multiple texts on pre-Columbian life throughout South America.

The public is invited to stay for a reception following the presentation.

The Burpee Museum is at 737 N. Main St.
