As part of National Engineers Week, Rock Valley College (RVC) will host an Engineering, Technology and Manufacturing Open House at the Woodward Technology Center (WTC), 3301 N. Mulford Road, Feb. 24 from 5-7 p.m.
Faculty members will be on hand to demonstrate engineering and technology labs while area high school robotics teams will present their recent projects.
The events are designed to foster critical thinking and careers in engineering for young students.
RVC’s celebration of Engineers Week also includes the Discover Engineering Event at the Discovery Center Museum, 711 N. Main Street, Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Students and community members will have the chance to meet career engineers, take part in physics demonstrations and hands-on challenges and make professional connections.
Special workshops for scouts are also available with advance reservations.
The WTC will host Professor Thomas M. Jahns from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Feb. 26 beginning with a reception at 6 p.m.
Engineers Week events conclude with RVC’s annual Bridge Building Competition at the Stenstrom Center for Career Education, 4151 Samuelson Road, Feb. 27, 8-11 a.m.
