Free phones for the deaf on offer in Winnebago County

Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation (ITAC), non-profit state distributor of telecommunications equipment for the hearing and speech impaired, are offering free amplified telephones to seniors living in Winnebago County.

Illinois residents can apply online at or in person at 202 Market St. as well as the Center for Sight & Hearing at 8038 Macintosh Lane both in Rockford.

The XLC3.4 which is being offered provides talking caller ID, sound amplification and easy to use buttons.

ITAC has been providing equipment to people with hearing and speech impairments since 1988.
