Entertainment abound for this week’s First Friday
This week’s First Friday brings several forms of entertainment to the area.
Flip Side Cinema formerly Storefront Cinema, 711 N. Main St., features a showing of the 2014 film “Begin Again”, an indie film starring Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine about the love of music and the complexity of relationships, at 7:30 with admission being $5.
JustGoods Fair Trade Marketplace, 201 7th St., will feature an evening of music, comedy and other surprises with One Less Tenor starting at 7 p.m. with free admission but donations being welcome.
The IceHogs will be in action Friday as they take on the Grand Rapids Griffins for those wishing to take in some hockey, doors open at 6 p.m. game starts at 7 p.m. with tickets being available at icehogs.com or at the door.
State of the Art Gallery, 218 E. State St., will be showing new paintings by Roni Golan and will be open until 8 p.m.
Taboo Blah Blah w/ Lukewarm Club of Rockford will be playing folk-rock songs about living in Rockford at Mary’s Place, 602 N. Madison St., at 9:30 p.m.
Kryptonite Bar, 308 W. State St., will be showing art by Anthony Szura and featuring music from an artist yet to be announced.
Tarot card readings will be available from 6-9 p.m. at Salvaged by Sonya, 330 E. State St., costing $10 for 10 minutes.
Spencer Moody will be making a stop on his Midwest Solo Tour at Culture Shock Clothing & Records, 2239 Charles St., to play in an intimate setting starting at 7:30 p.m. with a suggested donation of $5 for admission.
Irish Rose Saloon, 519 E. State St., will be featuring Promontary, a musical project attempting to wash out the barriers of heavy and light music built upon intense vocals starting at 9:30.
Eric Pasley will take the stage at District, 205 W. State St., at 8 p.m. with tickets available at districtdowntown.com.
Rockford Roaster Co., 206 N. Main St., will feature a free event from 6-8 p.m. centered on The Zen of Beard Trimming including a book signing and story telling.
Lucette Salon & Spa, 508 E. State St., will be showing a sampling of the art they have on display for Artscene with raffle tickets and hand massages available for donations to The Alliance for the Great Lakes from 6-8 p.m.
