In the race for Rockford Park District Commissioner, voters may choose between veterans Julie Elliott and Tyler Smith, or Brian Leggero. Leggero should not be chosen; vote for Elliott and Smith.
Leggero is Winnebago County’s Jim Oberweis.
Oberweis lost five races before his 2012 election to the Illinois Senate, and then he lost to Dick Durbin in the last race for the U.S. Senate.
Leggero has put himself up for the Winnebago County Forest Preserve Commission, Rockford Alderman and Winnebago County Board and lost each race. Now he is running for the Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners.
While his desire to serve the public is admirable, he just can’t compete with the qualifications and competency of Elliott and Smith.
Elliot has been a Rockford Park Board Commissioner since 2013; she was a Park District employee for 20 years, managing Riverview Ice House, Forest City Queen and Trolley Car 36. After she retired in 1991, she came back as a Fund Developer at the Rockford Park District Foundation and retired in 2001. She has served as a volunteer for many community organizations including Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens. She has the experience and grace we need.
Smith has been the a Rockford Park Board Commissioner since 2009 and is now president of the board. He owns Tyler’s Landscaping Service Inc., and has served on the boards of Smith Charitable Foundation, Illinois Landscape Contractors Association, Natural Land Institute, and don’t forget his long-time dedication to the Rockford Ski Broncs. He has the experience, leadership and real friendliness we need.
Vote for Elliott and Smith.
