The Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department (OCSWMD) is sponsoring an Earth Day Fair & Recycling Event Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Lincoln Elementary School parking lot, 1450 20th St. in Rochelle.
This event will provide an opportunity for Ogle and Lee County residents to recycle a variety of items as well as learn about environmental topics and enjoy earth friendly activities for kids.
Electronic waste will be accepted from Ogle and Lee County residents only with no cost to participants.
Electronic devices that are banned from landfills such as TVs, computers, monitors, stereos, VCRs and DVD players can be recycled through this event, with microwave ovens also being accepted for a $10 fee.

Clothing, shoes, belts, linens and purses will be accepted at by Serenity Hospice and Home and the Village of Progress, with proceeds from the sale of these items going towards these two organizations.
First National Bank of Rochelle will be offering confidential document shredding at the event on a first come first served and limited to three banker boxes of documents.
Free oak tree saplings will also be given away to those interested courtesy of Living Lands Waters Million Trees Project and distributed by RockRiverSweep.org and OCSWMD.
Information about the Rock River Sweep will also be available.
Other groups participating in the event include WRHL Radio, the City of Rochelle and Rochelle Municipal Utilities, U of I Extension Master Gardeners and Master Naturalists, Ogle County Health Department, the Oregon Park District and the Illinois Renewable Energy Association.
