Summerfield Zoo, 3088 Flora Road in Belvidere, is pleased to announce that they will still open for the season April 25 and 26.
Worries had arisen due to the damage suffered from the April 9 tornado the zoo would not be able to open as scheduled but due to overwhelming support enough repairs have been done to go as planned.
Summerfield Zoo is open Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Admission to the zoo is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for children with all proceeds going to the care of the animals.
“Immediately after the tornado struck, we knew that there was no chance that would we be able to open for the 2015 season. The wonderful people of this community and surrounding areas have proved us wrong. We aren’t going to be completely rebuilt and not all of the animals are going to be back in their regular habitats but we look forward to welcoming the public in to see the progress that has been made,” says Rick Anderson, one of the owners of Summerfield Zoo.
Summerfield Zoo specializes in up close and personal animal experiences along with animal presentations.
