Downtown gallery State of the Art, 218 E. State St., will celebrate their two year anniversary with a special event Friday, May 1, from noon-9 p.m.
At 7 p.m. gallery owner Roni Golan will create a painting accompanied by Eddie B. Jazz.
The public is invited to watch the process and view the completed piece.
Golan’s “performance art” is available for special events such as weddings, birthdays and anniversaries in which he creates custom pieces to celebrate special occasions.
Artists who will have work on display during the event include Jeremy Klonicki and Carmen Turner who use reclaimed wood to create sculptures.
“This is a milestone for me of 14 years of having galleries in Rockford,” Golan said. “Our mission is to bring people closer to art and to the process of making it, both educating and entertaining attendees.”
Food and beverage will be provided at the event by Ronit’s Kitchen, which will again be a part of Rockford’s City Market.
