RAAC receives National Endowment for the Arts grant

The National Endowment for the Arts has announced that as their second major grant announcement of the fiscal year the NEA will make a $20,000 award to Rockford Area Arts Council (RAAC) for ArtsSpace.

ArtsSpace is a high school age youth apprenticeship program under the direction and mentorship of professional artists from the visual and performing arts.

This is one of the 1,023 awards totaling $74.3 million nationwide in this funding round.

NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, “The NEA is committed to advancing learning, fueling creativity, and celebrating the arts in cities and towns across the United States. Funding these new projects like the one from Rockford Area Arts Council represents an investment in both local communities and our nation’s creative vitality.”

“The NEA’s generous support of RAAC ArtsPlace is critical to our continued success. We know this program changes lives and helps build strong youth through the arts,” said Anne E. O’Keefe, President and CEO, RAAC.
