The Rock River Development Partnership (RRDP) has announced that the North End City Market grand opening will be held Saturday at the southeast corner of the North Main and Auburn Street intersection.
The community is invited to celebrate the opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m.
Joseph James Partners is partnering with Alpine Bank and RRDP to bring a bank branch to the intersection and move the former North End Commons Farmers Market to the new, more visible location.
The new North End City Market will continue to offer fresh produce, garden plants, handmade products and baked goods with the addition of food vendors, live entertainment and children’s activities.
The Market will be managed and operated by the RRDP with assistance from the City of Rockford and marketing support from the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“We are very grateful to the Smith Charitable Foundation for its support to help grow this quality farmers market and further enhance our placemaking efforts,” said Peter Provenzano, Chairman of the RRDP and President of JJP. “The new North End City Market and future Alpine Bank development will complement the anchor businesses as well as increase visibility and economic activity in the neighborhood, much like the Rockford City Market has positively impacted downtown.”
The North End City Market will be open Saturday mornings from May 16 until October 31 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
