Rockford Aviators host Star Wars themed weekend homestand

Staff Report

The Rockford Aviators will be hosting the Schaumburg Boomers this weekend for a 3-game homestand featuring a Star Wars theme.

Friday night’s game will feature appearances by Star Wars characters Boba Fett and Princess Leia.

Attendees will have the opportunity to take pictures with the characters and show off their own Star Wars apparel.

The Aviators encourage all fans to sport any type of Star Wars apparel, costumes and accessories.

The best dressed Star Wars fan will receive an autographed baseball from a player of their choice.

Gates open at 6:05 p.m. for Friday’s game with first pitch at 7:05.

Saturday the Aviators will be handing out special mini-light-sabers to the first 300 fans through the gate, so kids who are looking to complete their Star Wars costume or just contribute to the weekend theme should be sure to get here early.

After the conclusion of the contest between the Aviators and the Boomers children will be invited down to the field to participate in running the bases.

Saturday’s game will begin at 7:05 p.m.

Sunday’s matinee game, which begins at 3:05 p.m., features Star Wars Family Day.

Kids Club members get in free and families with VIP Kids Club members can receive $2 off their tickets so be sure to remember your child’s Kids Club member card.

Kids will also be allowed on the field from 2:00-2:35 p.m. before the game to play catch.
