Rockton hosts inaugural Hanz Brew Fest

Staff Report

On July 11 the inaugural Hanz Brew Fest will be held in downtown Rockton celebrating the life of Todd Hansmeier.

The event will feature around 30 breweries serving over 100 craft beers, local food vendors, live music and a bags tournament.

Hanz Brew Fest will be at Settler’s Park in Rockton starting at 1 p.m. and will have several food vendors and breweries on hand to ensure there is something for everyone.

Tickets are $25 in advance, and $30 at the door and can be purchased by going to the eventbrite.com/e/hanz-brew-fest-tickets-16965241494 or visiting Rookie’s Pub and Grill in downtown Rockton.

For those not wanting to drink but still wishing to enjoy the festival Hanz Brew Fest is offering a discounted “Designated Driver” ticket for those that wish to attend, but not drink.

For $10 you can get in and help keep your friends safe by staying sober and driving everyone home.

When speaking about the event, Brian Hansmeier, Todd’s brother, said: “I wanted to create an event that would be something Todd would not only attend, but would encompass his spirit. We intend to make this an annual tradition to carry on his legacy.”

Rookie’s Pub & Grill owner, Ryan Asta, is working with Brian to make the event happen and has been negotiating with distributors and breweries to offer attendees a diverse and satisfying selection of craft beers. “No matter what your taste in beer, we are going to have something you will love.” said Asta. “With over 100 selections, plus all the food and domestic beer offerings, everyone will be satisfied.”

The event has a long list of supporters such as Executive Lawn Services, Brian’s company, who is working every day behind the scenes to pull this off; RyCOM Creative Corp. developed the event brand, and is managing the marketing of the event; MP Heating & Cooling is sponsoring the stage where live music from Olivia Dvorak and the Flat Car Riders will entertain attendees; Legacy Construction & Design is covering the costs for the tents; and the Rockton Chamber is helping by offering a number of logistical items to bring it all together.

If you are unable to attend the event please consider donating to a memorial fund that has been setup in Todd’s honor with proceeds supporting a scholarship in Todd’s name at Hononegah High School.
