Storms are expected to hit the northern and central Illinois region again Wednesday night through Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service advises heavy rainfall will continue to produce flooding situations throughout the region.

Storms are expected to begin later Wednesday afternoon and to continue through Thursday morning’s commute.

The potential for severe weather is currently low in the Rockford area though conditions can shift dramatically in a short time.

Areas along the I-80 corridor extending over to Indiana are expected to see severe thunderstorms with winds up to 70 mph and flooding.

The same areas were bombarded by severe weather Monday night, including a series of tornadoes which impacted areas near Amboy and Coal City.
