On Saturday, July 11 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful will be holding clothing drives at all Rockford area Schnucks Market parking lots and the Belvidere Township Office.

“Clothing that’s no longer needed can be re-used or repurposed and kept out of landfills,” said Lori Gummow, executive director of Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful. “We ask that clean items be dropped off in plastic bags. What’s not wearable will be used to make fiberfill for other purposes such as automotive trunk linings,” she said.

KNIB needs 120 volunteers to staff the nine locations to help donors unload such items as clean men’s, women’s and children’s clothing as well as shoes, hats, belts, purses, luggage, throw rugs, curtains, stuffed toys, sheets, blankets and towels.

The locations for the drive are Rockford Schnucks at 3134 11th St., 2642 Charles St., 6410 East State St., 2601 N. Mulford Road and 3150 North Rockton Ave.; Belvidere at the Belvidere Township Offices, 8200 Fairgrounds Road; Cherry Valley Schnucks, 2206 Barnes Blvd.; Loves Park Schnucks, 1810 Harlem Road; Roscoe Schnucks, 4860 Hononegah Road.
