Rockford Symphony Orchestra holds annual Independence Day Concert

The Rockford Symphony Orchestra will be holding its annual Independence Day Spectacular on Friday at 8:00 p.m. at Starlight Theatre at Rock Valley College, 3301 N. Mulford Road.

This summertime tradition, which will feature patriotic music and fireworks, is sponsored by ComEd.

Enjoy an evening under the stars with a Pops Concert of patriotic favorites, a tribute to our veterans, and lively, summertime tunes.

Featured pieces include “Pops Hoedown”, “From Sea to Shining Sea”, John Philip Sousa’s “The Thunderer” and A Tribute to Irving Berling.

Fireworks, the Armed Forces Salute, and John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” complete this annual summer tradition.

Price is $30, $29 for students and seniors.

Before the concert, the RSO will host an All-American Picnic on the grounds of the RVC campus beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Tickets for the barbeque are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under and can be purchased with concert tickets.
