Natural Land Institute holds Party on the Prairie fundraiser

Natural Land Institute (NLI) will host the every other year fundraiser, Party on the Prairie, on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Nygren Wetland Preserve, 3190 West Rockton Road, in Rockton from 5-9 p.m.

The theme of this year’s event is Party on the Prairie Goes South of the Border for a Fiesta.

Dress is casual with flat shoes being recommended.

Tickets are $75 per person or $600 for a table of 8 and reservations for the event are due by Monday.

Horse drawn wagon rides start at 5 p.m. and take you through the prairie blooming with summer wildflowers.

The social hour begins at 6 p.m. with beverages and salsa along with strolling music by Mariachi Lira de Rockford and a nature themed silent auction.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and features locally grown fiesta style cuisine by Toni’s of Winnebago, which will be served under the big tent overlooking the prairie.

Rockford Brewing Company will provide their handcrafted beer and a signature margarita along with other beverages at the bar.

Party on the Prairie supports the ongoing restoration and stewardship of Nygren Wetland Preserve, a 721-acre wildlife refuge, owned by NLI.
