Northern Illinois University School of Law professor emeritus, Larry Schlam, was a collector of fine art and had collected 19 paintings by Charlotte Rollman.

Two of them were oils on canvas and the others, watercolor paintings unseen by most people.

Two triptychs and another watercolor painting has been donated to Kishwaukee Community College, and another is slated for the Art Museum of Illinois.

The art of Charlotte Rollman started with painting the human figure, then the human figure in nature and walking through nature.

Her landscape watercolor paintings are painted in three layers with  the lighter hues painted first with a lot of energy and emotion.

Darker hues are applied in the second layer creating more substantial forms and lastly lines are applied with a wet tip of the brush as the drawing.

The Art Box is open Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. -6 p.m.
