Machesney Park holds Stone’s Landing ribbon cutting

Staff Report

The Village of Machesney Park announces the Dedication Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the official opening of recently completed Stone’s Landing Boat Launch north of the Bauer Bridge in Machesney Park on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.

“The park and boat launch is a fantastic asset and improvement to the quality of life in Machesney Park,” stated Tim Savage, Village Administrator. “It was nice to see local residents already fishing off the new pier last weekend.”

In 2014 the Village successfully in obtained a $200,000 grant from Illinois Department of Natural Resources to install the boat ramp and improve the surrounding public space on Shore Drive just north of the Bauer Bridge.

Construction began this spring and was completed ahead of schedule.

Additionally, through the Flood Buyout Program the Village has acquired properties abutting the new boat launch which will pave the way to expand the project in the future to include a gazebo, picnic area and a canoe launch.

The Ski Broncs will be joining the dedication ceremony with a brief skiing exhibition on the river and a big-horsepower boat on display in the lot.
