Rockford area youth will get the chance to expand their artistic talents this summer through the annual Court Street United Methodist Church’s performing arts camp.
This year’s camp entitled “Living Parables” will run Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. each day.
It will conclude with a live performance Sunday, August 9, at 10 a.m. during Sunday worship service at Court Street.
“The goal is to give Rockford area youth a chance to improve their artistic talents during a week of fun but intensive training,” pointed out James Marck, Director of Music at Court Street. “With the camp ending in a Sunday Worship Service, it is wonderful to know that the children’s combination of hard work and creativity will ultimately be, as J.S. Bach said of all sacred music, ‘To the Glory of God.’”
The “Living Parables” performing arts camp is open to children in grades 3-12, has is a $20 fee per student and will feature classes in drama, music and other theatre arts.
Students will get the chance to display their newly enhanced skills during the live Sunday musical performance of Selected Parables of Christ.
“This camp provides a very unique experience in that it offers training from professional educators and performers including James Crow and Dorothy Paige-Turner,” pointed out James Marck.
Court Street United Methodist Church is located at 215 N. Court Street in Rockford.
