NWS: Thunderstorms expected Sunday night

A cold front passing through Wisconsin may bring strong thunderstorms to the Rockford area this afternoon.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says isolated thunderstorms capable of producing winds in excess of 60 mph and occasional hail could move in beginning just after noon.

More storms are expected later in the day and through the evening, most after 5 p.m. The later developing line has the potential to produce heavy down pours and damaging winds through midnight.
