Northwest Illinois Audubon Society hosts trip to Belly Fire Farm
The Northwest Illinois Audubon Society will host a field trip to the Belly Fire Farm and Open Range Products on Friday, August 21.
The group will depart from the Freeport Staple’s Parking lot, 1724 S. West Ave., at 7:45 a.m. with carpool arrangements and the expected return time is 2 p.m.
Belly Fire Farm is a small, bio-intensive family farm near Mt. Morris that specializes in heirloom vegetables, herbs, berries and goat milk soap.
Open Range Products is a free-range meat and poultry operation that does not use antibiotics, steroids, hormones or animal fish proteins.
Both Belly Fire Farm and Open Range Products will have products available for purchase and a cooler should be brought along if you plan to purchase meat.
Lunch will follow at Toni’s in Winnebago.
Cost for this trip is $1.50 for plastic boots at the Open Range Farm and your cost for lunch.
