YWCA and AAUW works to bring I Am A Girl to Rockford

YWCA of Rockford and the the American Association of University Women, Rockford, will host a viewing of the documentary film I Am A Girl on September 21 at AMC Showplace 16.

The organizations need 65 total reservations by September 10 to secure the special viewing.

I Am A Girl follows the stories of six girls from cities from around the globe, New York City to Afghanistan.

The film compares and contrasts the girls’ experiences and challenges coming of age within their cultures.

This feature length documentary from Australian director and producer Rebecca Barry “…paints a clear picture of the reality of what it means to be a girl in the 21st century.”

Tickets are available via the Gathr Films website at gathr.us/screening/11613.

A minimum of 65 reservations are needed to bring the film to the Rockford community and YWCA and AAUW, Rockford, encourage community members to support this message of girls’ empowerment by purchasing tickets today.
