A cold front moving in from the northwest is expected to bring scattered thunderstorms and lower temperatures Monday afternoon.
The National Weather Services says strong storms are expected in north-central Illinois late this afternoon or early evening. An unstable airmass combined with an upper level trough and the arriving cold front will create conditions favorable to strong thunderstorms.
Wind gusts of up to 50-60 mph, frequent lightning and heavy downpours can be expected. Storms are also possible Tuesday and Wednesday.
