Angelic Organics hosts a variety of workshops throughout September and October

Through the rest of September and the beginning of October Angelic Organics Learning Center, 1547 Rockton Rd. in Caledonia, will be hosting several workshops and events.

September 12 and 27 there will be a cheesemaking workshop from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. This hands-on workshop introduces the process of cheesemaking from start to finish, all in the backdrop of an organic farm. You’ll get real experience milking goats while also learning how to make ricotta, chevre, mozzarella & more. Finally, you’ll sample your own handcrafted cheese. On September 13 Angelic Organics will be holding Farm Dreams: Assessing Risks & Resources to Start a Small Farm or Market Garden from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Explore sustainable farming careers, take part in self-assessments, and be better prepared to decide whether to pursue farming. Includes a panel of farmers, a tour of Angelic Organics farm, and sandwiches for lunch. The cost of this is $95 and registration is available at learngrowconnect.org/farmdreams.

September 26 there will be a How to Create Your Own Custom Teas workshop from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Learn to make your own custom tea blends with Rosie Thompson of Chai Town Tea. Rosie has cupped award-winning teas, providing delicious hand-harvested teas and botanical blends to a variety of businesses and happy consumers. Also on September 26 will be a Chicken Butchery workshop from 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Learn the basics of butchering chickens at home. Instructors will walk through all the steps, from slaughter to dressing out. The class also includes an overview of chicken care, housing and feeding. A Homebrewing 101 workshop will be held on September 27 from 2 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Beginners will learn the basic steps of homebrewing with Nate Peterson of Wishful Acres Farm. You’ll also learn what equipment you need, where to find the best ingredients, and how to grow, harvest and prepare your own hops. Participants will try their hand at bottling their own. On October 3 Angelic Organics will be holding a DIY Dinner Date on the Farm event from 2:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Bring a friend to the farm for this down-to-earth dinner date. We’ll harvest produce from the fields, then prepare and enjoy a farm-fresh meal as we watch the sun set. Vegetarian options will be available. October 4 there will be a Introduction to Permaculture course from 10 p.m.-5 p.m. Discover permaculture, a design system for sustainable living, at this interactive day-long course. Learn a broad overview of permaculture principles, explore examples of permaculture in practice on a real organic farm, and get hands-on experience building a hugelkultur bed. Lunch included. October 10 will feature an Animal Day for Families event at Angelic Organics from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Bring your kids to our organic farm for a day of hands-on experiences with the animals. Milk the goats, feed the horses, gather eggs from the chickens, and produce with worm boxes. Make goat’s milk ice cream, enjoy a sack lunch under the trees, and much more. Cost for this event is $20 and registration is available at learngrowconnect.org/event/animal-day-families-8.
