Area Lutheran churches seeking volunteers to prepare meals

Staff Report

This Saturday local Lutheran churches along with Kids Around the World will be holding an event at Cherry Vale Mall to package meals to be sent to Tanzania.

Kids Around the World packages meals that contain all the nutritional requirements undernourished children need for physical and mental development. One food package contains six servings. Each package is prepared in less than 20 minutes by adding it to boiling water. One box contains 36 packages and feeds 216 children. The food is a rice and soy mix fortified with 21 vitamins and minerals, six dehydrated vegetables and seasoning. This soy (52 percent protein) and nutrient rich formula reverses the starvation process and its effects.

The packaged meals will be shipped and distributed to a trusted partner in Arusha, Tanzania to hungry children in great need of our help.

Area Lutheran churches are inviting volunteers to package meals in a meaningful hands-on, team-building, and fun assembly line process.

Volunteers can come out to help anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to assemble 120,000 life-saving meals for children in Tanzania and by doing so you can save a child from starving.

Those wishing to help fight hunger locally can bring a non-perishable food item to the mall and it will be distributed to area pantries.
