Farm Stroll comes to Boone County, Oct. 4
University of Illinois Extension Boone County announced a free, family-friendly event called the Boone County Farm Stroll, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4.
This event is a self-guided tour of 11 diversified family farms including demonstrations and fresh local food sampling and sales.
While this is a free event, farms may charge activity fees. Participants are urged to bring cash to purchase food or other items at the farms.
Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for a farm visit; follow all the farmer’s instructions and be respectful of all the animals; wash hands regularly and wear shoe covers if instructed to; and to not bring their own family pets.
You can pick up, complete and turn in a Farm Stroll Passport at any of the farms for a chance to win prizes.
The farms participating in this year’s Farm Stroll are: Alpaca Pines, Angelic Organics Learning Center, Aves Dairy Prairie Pure Cheese, Beaver Creek Gardens, Illinois Wool & Fiber Mill, Kinnikinnick Farm, McEachran Homestead Winery, Susie’s Garden Patch, Trogg’s Hollow, Valley Orchard and Willow Glenn Alpaca Farm (More details below from U of I Extension).

Alpaca Pines – Poplar Grove

Cold-climate grape and season fruit wines made on-site at Boone County’s only winery. Stop in for a tasting, and learn how we prune, tend, and nurture our vineyards.
Susie’s Garden Patch – Garden Prairie
Family owned and operated, we are the only U-pick fruit and vegetable farm in Boone County! Visit our farm stand, and learn about integrated pest management, as well as growing in high tunnels.
Trogg’s Hollow – Poplar Grove
Chemical-free, bio-intensive, urban-style farm producing unique vegetables and herbs for CSA subscribers. Stop by for a wagon ride and meet the birds and goats!
Valley Orchard – Cherry Valley
