WGTD Radio Theater returns to Lake Lawn Resort with new wave of drama

Staff Report

WGTD Radio Theater will return to Lake Lawn Resort for three live radio shows this season, kicking off with suspenseful storylines on Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. Picking up on Lake Lawn’s history of hosting radio broadcasts during the 1940s and 1950s, the programs will be performed live in the resort’s Wisconsin Room and air throughout Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties on 91.1 FM. Area visitors and guests are invited to sit in on the live broadcast as part of the in-studio audience for an inside look at the action.

Initiated by the Brown-Ullstrup Performing Arts Foundation in 2005, WGTD Radio Theater has put on over 60 live radio dramas and comedies, making it one of the longest-running radio programs of its kind. This season’s first show at Lake Lawn raises suspense and dread with “Sorry, Wrong Number” and “Three Skeleton Key”. Broadcasts are also scheduled at Lake Lawn on November 7 with “Detectives Times Two!” and Dec. 12 with “Lost and Found for the Holidays”.

The Frontier Restaurant will host a breakfast buffet prior to all three shows. The live broadcasts will begin at 11 a.m. Tickets for both the preshow breakfast and live broadcast are $20, while tickets for the show alone are $10. Reservations are encouraged as space for the show is limited. Reservations can be made by calling Lake Lawn’s Frontier Restaurant at 262-725-9155.
