Rockford Park District offers youth basketball camps

The Rockford Park District is hosting two upcoming youth basketball camps teaching both beginning and advanced techniques.

The first camp is a new basketball skills camp where children ages 3-5 will learn the skills to become a better player by learning the latest techniques in ball handling, passing, shooting, footwork, rebounding and team play from Park District Youth Sports staff as well as local high school and AAU coaches.

The camp will be held Monday, October 12 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Auburn High School, 5110 Auburn St. The registration fee is $40 ($45 non-resident). This camp will also meet on Saturday, October 17 from 11 a.m.-noon, when campers will have the opportunity to participate in the last hour of the Chicago Bulls camp, and get an autographed photo of a Bulls player.

The second camp is a Chicago Bulls skills camp. The Bulls/Sox Academy will host a Chicago Bulls FUNdamentals camp with the Rockford Park District for boys and girls ages 5-14 (grouped by age and ability level). This camp will teach the latest techniques in ball handling, passing, shooting and rebounding, while also teaching children how to be student-athletes and great teammates. Each participant will receive top-flight instruction from professional Bulls/Sox Academy coaches, who have learned from the Chicago Bulls coaching staff. Children will learn the game, as well as life lessons such as discipline, respect, sportsmanship and handling peer pressure, all in a fun and safe environment. Each participant will receive a replica autographed photo of a current Chicago Bulls player and a camp t-shirt.

The camp will be held Saturday, October 17 from 8 a.m.-to noon at the Auburn High School Field House, 5110 Auburn St. The registration fee is $70 ($75 non-resident).
