Rockford City Market celebrates visit number 100,000 this week

Overall attendance for Rockford City Market in this sixth season has reached over 98,000 visitors to the market. On the last market day of the season, visitor number 100,000 is expected to visit the market. To celebrate this, Rockford City Market will be giving out a special prize to the person who is visitor number 100,000.

All market guests will be able to enjoy other special activities at the market on Friday as well. Guests will be able to vote on their favorite decorated vendor booth as vendors compete for the Best Fall Booth. B103 will also be at the market hosting Rockford’s Largest Time Warp at 6 p.m. to promote The Rocky Horror Picture Show put on by local theater company, The Usual Suspects, at the Nordlof Center in October. There will also be an exciting wheelchair basketball game at 6 p.m. in the RAMP parking lot where the Rockford Chariots take on the Rockford Ravens Rugby team in a rematch from last year. Spectators can support their favorite team by purchasing points to help either team win.

The People’s Trio, a jazz ensemble group featuring Spencer Jenich (piano), Eli Namay (bass) and Phil Sudderberg (drums) will be performing during this week’s City Market.

Andrew Robinson’s one man band will also be performing folk, soul and pop-rock music on the acoustic stage.

The Rockford IceHogs will be offering activities for kids such as a hockey net set up to take shots at or they can work on a coloring page.

The Arthritis Foundation will also have a free kids’ activity.

The Rockford Fire Department will be offering free take home information and advice on how to make your home fire safe at their RFD Fire Engine at the market in preparation for National Fire Week.

Market attendees can visit the Rockford Health System booth at Market & Water Streets this week. Staff from the Cancer Center will be on hand to share information about cancer prevention and treatment with City Market guests.
