American Legion collecting toys to distribute for Christmas

The Genoa American Legion Riders Post 337 are collecting new unwrapped toys for kids to be distributed for Christmas. The riders are also having their 3rd annual Toy Run on Sunday, October 4 and will be staging at Genoa Veterans Home, 311 S. Washington St., from noon-12:45 p.m. and departing at 1 p.m. The ride is for veterans and non-veterans and you do not need to have a motorcycle to participate. The ride is $15 per rider and $10 per passenger which will include a 4 p.m. Pork Chop Dinner at the Genoa Veterans Home. Non-riders can pay $10 per person at the door for dinner.

Potentate Lawrence R. Keyser, the current leader of the Tebala Shrine of Rockford, will be in attendance of the Pork Chop Dinner at the Genoa Veterans Home on Sunday, October 4 at 4 p.m. The Tebala Shrine is comprised of over 950 members and one of its major charities is the Shriners Hospitals.

This Pork Chop Dinner is open to the public and is an effort to collect toys for kids that will be distributed to the Shriners Hospitals and local DeKalb County locations.

Everyone is asked to bring a new unwrapped toy to the Pork Chop Dinner. Please remember that the Toy Run and Pork Chop Dinner is for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers and walk-ins. The Toy Run is being supported by Genoa American Legion Riders Post 337, the DeKalb County Forty and Eight Voiture 207, the DeKalb Masonic Lodge 144, DeKalb County Shrine Club, DeKalb American Veterans (AMVETS) Post 90 and the Masonic Riders Association, Widows Sons, Knights of Tyre.
