Aireloom Music education center holds open house

Staff Report

Aireloom Music, Ogle County’s newest music education center, will be holding a Meet the Teachers Open House on Sunday, October 18, from 2-4 p.m.

The featured teachers will be: Mary Ley – guitar, harp, Indian flute, pennywhistle, voice; Chris Thomas – piano; Chris Kolling – brass, drums, guitar, mandolin; Dennis Stukenberg – harmonica; Rob Jasper – bass guitar; Jennifer Peterson – violin, viola, cello; Patricia Crumley – woodwinds, brass, piano; Erik Thoreson – voice; and Kathryn Stauffer – violin.

Opportunities to talk one-on-one with the various musical instructors will help aspiring musicians to see how they might develop their (sometimes hidden) musical talents, including selection of the right instrument(s) to meet their needs.

As a special feature, on the following Saturday, October 24, noted Nashville Bluesman Dennis Stukenberg will conduct a Free Harmonica Workshop at Aireloom from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Topics covered will include the history of the harmonica and a demonstration of playing techniques and styles. A 10-hole diatonic harmonica in the key of C will be needed to be a participant in the workshop.

Aireloom Music is located at 4167 Mud Creek Road in Mt. Morris. Further information is available at aireloommusic.com or by calling 815-973-5697.
