Groove Walk-ing Dead returns to downtown Rockford

Staff Report

Rockford Area Music Industry (RAMI) and the River District Association (RDA) announces a celebration of Rockford’s downtown nightlife and music scene during Groove Walk-ing Dead on Saturday, October 17 from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. This musical walk will showcase some of Rockford’s unique establishments, amazing and diverse musical talent, a costume contest, and spooky installations throughout downtown.

“We were thrilled with the success of last year’s revival of Groove Walk and this year’s Groove Walk-ing Dead will be even bigger and better with the addition of new locations and bands,” said Stephanie Caltagerone, RDA Board member. “It’s a great way for people to sample local music talent and River District businesses. Just park, hop on the trolley and enjoy all the activities that downtown has to offer that night.”

Involved will be 15 establishments, each with local bands performing throughout the River District in downtown Rockford. The event will be sponsored by LaMonica Beverages, RDA, RAMI, RMTD and RACVB. Patrons can ride the spooked out RMTD Trolley or enjoy the fall weather by walking from establishment to establishment.

Be sure to stop by Groove Walk Deadquarters located in the new Magpie Restaurant & Bar at 307 S. Main St. near the BMO Harris Bank Center. Enjoy music, refreshments, a photo booth and costume contest. Votes will be taken through the GrooveWalkingDead.com site for the best costumes.

Parking and trolley information will be available at the event and on RAMI, RDA, or GrooveWalkingDead websites and Facebook pages.

Admission to the Groove Walk-ing Dead is $8 in advance, $10 at the door. IceHog game and Rocky Horror Picture Show attendees will receive a discount to $5 by showing their ticket stub from the evening of October 17. One ticket admits patrons to all 15 locations. Advance tickets can be purchased online at ramiawards.com, participating establishments, all Alpine Bank locations and Guzzardo Performance Music Center.
