On Wednesday, September 30, Sandra Thompson played the Lucky Envelope Game live on WTVO’s morning news program with Matt Rodewald. Although she did not win the $100,000 grand prize, she did leave with an extra $1,000 to add to the $10,000 she already won in the drawing on September 4.
The Lucky Envelope Game is the second part of The Arc’s Great Dream Machine Sweepstakes. The person whose name is drawn out of the large tumbler of names wins the initial prize of $10,000, up from $5,000 last year, and gets the chance at playing the game for up to an additional $100,000.
The Arc’s Great Dream Machine Sweepstakes evolved from the Great Home Giveaway. Even though the Great Home Giveaway served the community well for over 20 years, in the last few years, winners were choosing a cash prize over the house. The Arc listened to feedback and made the fundraiser into a cash prize. Proceeds help families raise children diagnosed with an intellectual/developmental disability at home and support adults to live in their communities, participating with work, worship, family and friends.
The next Great Dream Machine Sweepstakes drawing will be held in the fall of 2016. Donations will be accepted beginning April 1 at greatdreammachine.com for the autumn drawing.
