On Wednesday, October 8, 2015, I attended the village zoning board meeting and there were speakers both for and against The Hospice House Project of Pecatonica. The architect of the project stated that the license for the project was state approved. The Public Works, Police, and Fire Departments of Pecatonica also all approved the project. The architect also explained the exterior of the building would not be altered.
Trustee Steve Eytalias spoke passionately about the need to support our veterans in their time of need and it will help the locals who are now traveling great distances to see their loved ones. It might even be you or your neighbor.
One person spoke that the issue of this special permission permit might lead to other professionals moving into the community to buy or renovate properties as if that were a bad thing. Not true.
I hope that all village trustees would be present at the next board meeting to answer and be accountable for their vote on this issue.
