Archaeological Institute of America offers presentation on the Black Desert of Jordan

The Rockford Society of the Archaeological Institute of America will be holding a free multimedia presentation on archaeology on Tuesday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. The presentation will be held at the Burpee Museum of Natural History, 737 N. Main St.

The topic will be Explorations in the Black Desert of Jordan; Extreme Archaeology Discovers The Unexpected, and will feature guest speaker Dr. Yorke Rowan, Oriental Institute, University of Chicago. Dr. Rowan will discuss and show the explorations of the “Black Desert” and the unexpected surprises the explorations yielded.

Dr. Yorke is a research associate at Chicago’s internationally recognized Oriental Institute, a research organization on ancient civilizations of the Near East.

The public is invited to a free reception held immediately following each presentation. Burpee Museum is handicapped accessible, and offers free parking. Additional free parking is also available next door at the Riverfront Museum Park, 711 N. Main Street.
