Downtown businesses offering trick or treat event Friday

Staff Report

Shop Downtown Rockford and the River District Association (RDA) have announced a family friendly trick-or-treating evening coming to downtown Rockford. This event will take place from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at various downtown businesses. Costumes are encouraged.

Participating businesses will be designated by a pumpkin poster in their front window and that is how people will know where the treats are. It is requested that children be accompanied by an adult/parent or guardian at all times.

The River District Association hopes that while downtown people will lengthen their stay and spend time in the unique retail shops and the wonderful restaurants throughout downtown. People will find restaurants that serve original and seasonal menus that often come from local farmers.

Shop Downtown Rockford serves as a source to find favorite shops, galleries and restaurants in downtown Rockford. Shop Downtown Rockford started as a way to encourage businesses to be open every Saturday during the holidays and has grown into more.
