Ogle County holds monthly electronics recycling event
With Christmas falling on the last Friday of the month this year, the Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department (OCSWMD) will conduct the monthly electronics recycling event on Friday, December 18 instead. The event is from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. sharp and is located at the Ogle County Annex Building at 909 Pines Road in Oregon, one block west of IL Route 2, at the attached garage on the south side of building.
Items accepted at this event include televisions (flat-screen, tube, projection, and console), computer hardware, monitors, routers, printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, shredders, laptops, cell phones, tablets, speakers, DVD/VCRs, stereo equipment, radios, phone systems, answering machines, gaming systems, microwaves, extension cords, wire, Christmas lights, compact fluorescent light bulbs, rechargeable batteries, and ink cartridges. There is a limit of two tube-type TVs or monitors per vehicle.
Items not accepted include appliances (white goods), coffee makers, fryers, bread makers, alkaline batteries, vacuum cleaners, yard and power tools, dehumidifiers, light fixtures, and ceiling fans. For a complete list of accepted items, visit oglecounty.org. Electronics for recycling should be removed from packaging; cardboard, plastic wrap, and Styrofoam will not be accepted with electronics.
