Shop on State returns to downtown Thursday

The River District Association along with the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau will be bringing Rockford Shop on State to downtown this Thursday from 5-9 p.m.

The signature event for the evening will be Wine at Waterside, a wine tasting reception at the Waterside Building across from the City Market Pavilion. The tasting will feature local and regional wines from DC Winery and specialty chocolates from Rockford based CacaoCuvee. Tickets for the wine tasting reception can be purchased at gorockford.com/merryandbright.

Several downtown businesses will be open with shopping specials and treats available. Those businesses include, but are not limited to, the following: a jewelry trunk show with discounts at 510 Threads, 510 E. State Street; Lucette, 508 E. State Street, will have several specials going on as well as complimentary hot Aveda Comforting Tea and will be accepting warm clothes donations for the Rockford Rescue Mission; Bee’s Knees General Store, 118 N. 1st Street, will be holding a raffle, with no purchase necessary, for a cast iron bank of Santa and Rudolph at a roof, valued at $150; Olive Oil Experience, 328 E. State St., will have refreshments and a drawing for a $50 gift certificate. CC Rainz will also have her handmade jewelry on display and for sale and Melanie’s Country Confections will be sampling chocolates and selling as well; Minglewood, 333 E. State St., will be offering a free $20 gift certificate for every $100 spent and have door prizes and refreshments; CD Source, 221 E. State St.; will be providing warm cider and small treats as well as offering 25 percent off records and buy one get one free on CDs; State of the Art Gallery, 218 E. State St., will be offering $400 cash back on the purchase of any of their large paintings as well as $400 cash back for Christmas party live painting.
