The YMCA of Rock River Valley has announced that Brent Pentenburg has been promoted from Vice President of Operations to Chief Operating Office. In his new role Pentenburg will be overseeing the operations of the YMCA of Rock River Valley’s six branches, including the I.D. Pennock Family YMCA, Northeast Family YMCA, Camp Winnebago, Youth Achievement YMCA, Community Outreach YMCA, and the Puri Family YMCA when it opens.
Pentenburg joined the YMCA of Rock River Valley in 2012 and since has held various leadership positions. The most recent such position was as Executive Director of the Northeast Family YMCA before his transition to operations. Pentenburg’s career with the YMCA began more than 10 years ago when he was a day camp counselor, and more recently he was the Sports Director at the Georgia Mountains YMCA in North Atlanta, Georgia prior to coming to Rockford.
“Since Brent joined the YMCA of Rock River Valley, our association has seen amazing growth,” said Mike Brown, President and CEO, YMCA of Rock River Valley. “Brent represents a younger generation of leadership. I’m proud of his determination, compassion and resourcefulness. He will play an important role in the evolution of the YMCA of Rock River Valley.”
Pentenburg launched the Y’s Togetherhood program in the area, which invites YMCA members to lead and participate in volunteer service projects that benefit their community. He is also a board member for MELD, a member of the Rotary Club of Rockford, and coaches 8th grade boys’ basketball at Flinn Middle School.
