National Land Institute hosts Wander at the Wetland

On Monday, January 25, Natural Land Institute will be hosting the 6th annual Wander at the Wetland: Full Moon Snowshoe & Hike. The event will take place from 4:30-8 p.m. at Nygren Wetland Preserve, 3190 W. Rockton Rd., in Rockton.

This event is a free family themed outdoor winter event for people of all ages to take in the setting of the prairies and wetlands as they hike, snowshoe or ski the trail decorated with luminaries under the full moon. Attendees can either take self-guided walks along the trail or hike with a volunteer guide to hear about the history of the Natural Land Institute and the preserve itself.

Those attending will be able to warm up at a pair of bonfires or in the greenhouse which will serve as the check in station and location to get hot beverages, cookies and snacks.

Registration is required for this free event by calling 815-964-6666 or emailing info@naturalland.org by Sunday, January 24. For a $10 donation to Natural Land Institute guests may rent snowshoes at the event that evening or they may bring their own snowshoes or skis.
