REAL ID: Illinois licenses good for travel until 2018

Staff Report

Illinois residents won’t have to worry about travelling on their current IDs, says Secretary of State Jesse White.

In a statement Friday afternoon, White’s office said that the Department of Homeland Security provided assurances than no security changes at airports will be implemented prior to January 22, 2018.

The current model state driver’s licenses will continue to be good for travel throughout the U.S. as White’s office works with DHS on longterm solutions inline with the REAL ID Act.
